Session Fees
Sessions normally last 1 hour at a cost of £90 per session. Sessions are usually completed weekly but may be spaced further apart toward the end of therapy. Although I have a cancellation policy, you are not contracted into a specific number of sessions. If you feel you no longer wish to continue or are unable to focus on therapy right now, you can stop at any time.
Payments can be made prior to the session via bank transfer.
I offer a free 20-minute telephone call before you start treatment if you are unsure whether I may be the right therapist for you and would like to discuss the options in more detail.
Wellbeing health checks
I can offer a 90 minute Wellbeing Health check where we can complete a brief assessment and help you gain some insight into what might be going on for you and whether therapy ( private or via the NHS) might be helpful. I can help sign post you to some useful websites and self help material and discuss some basic interventions which may be helpful to you.
This option can be useful if you are unsure whether you want or need therapy and would like a space to talk through what you are experiencing without feeling you have to take the next step immediately. It can also be a health check point if you have had difficulties in the past and want to prevent these from reoccurring.
These Wellbeing checks last 90 minutes and are charged at £150. They also include follow up email support 4-6 weeks later to check in and ensure the information provided was useful.
Trauma/wellbeing Informed Birth Plans
If you have previously had a difficult or traumatic birth and are currently pregnant, the thoughts about an upcoming birth may bring a lot of anxiety. We can think about what happened previously and any support within the maternity services which might make you feel safer or more supported during birth. This may include thinking about potential triggers or things that you missed out on previously. We cannot guarantee the outcome of your birth but this process may help you communicate with your maternity team what support and communication you need from them to help you feel in control of your birth decisions. It can also help engage your birth partner in advocating for you during this time.
Birth plans typically take 1-2 sessions but can be extended if needed.
Dad’s, partners and grandparents
Although it is more common for mums or the birth parent to seek help during the perinatal period it is widely recognised that dads and partners can struggle too and may find it difficult to access support. This may include feelings of low mood, anxiety or intrusive thoughts which then impacts on their connection with the baby. Birth partners may also often experience symptoms of trauma following a difficult birth. Watching someone they love in pain or becoming seriously unwell can trigger a sense of fear and helplessness, which can continue even after you have recovered. Although the website is named Mummy Brain I can support any parent who may be struggling during this time.
There are several links to mental health websites for dads and partners in the resource section.
